At Faith, we exist to lead people to faith & maturity in Jesus Christ. That's our mission. But what does that look like in the day-to-day life of our church family ... we have a simple strategy for accomplishing this in our individual lives and in our church culture.
The Christian life is a journey and we encourage our whole church family to keep moving forward. To help us move forward, we've framed our strategy around 5 practices we call the "5 Ones."
WORD: One-On-One Time I Spend With God Each Day
If you want to get to know someone you have to spend time with them on a regular basis. As you listen to them talk you have a greater appreciation for their likes and dislikes, for their priorities and for what motivates them.
Likewise, if you want to know God, then it is important that you spend time listening to Him as He communicates to us through the Bible. Here in His Word we have revealed to us the heart of God.
A great way to nurture (and maintain) the habit of Bible study is through reading plans. Check out the many options that the free YouVersion app has for you to try out!
WORSHIP: One Worship Service I Attend Each Week
John Piper explains that, "coming together in various assemblies is essential to giving expression to the fact that Jesus died to create a united people, not just isolated Christian individuals. So we find in the Bible then descriptions of those first century Christians gathering regularly." We seek to model that early church example of gathering regularly to worship God and lift high the name of our living Saviour Jesus Christ.
GROUP: One Group I Attend Regularly
You were created for community. Community with God and community with other people. Being part of a small group allows us to experience life the way God intended us to experience it; in community. The purpose of small groups at Faith is, “to lead people to faith and maturity in Jesus Christ by creating authentic small communities made up of people who are committed to standing alongside one another in life and faith.”
SERVE: One Ministry I Serve In Regularly
When God called us to become part of His family He gifted us and called us to serve. One of the greatest privileges that God gives to His children while we remain on Earth is to serve Him in some way. He does not need us, He can do it better Himself, but for our sake He allows us to do the work that He has prepared for us to do.
God has given each of us a gift, a talent, a special ability that we are to use for the building up of the body of Christ. If we want to mature in our faith, there is no substitute for serving God by serving others.
REACH: One Friend I Reach For Christ
The Christian life of following Jesus is not one of simple self-improvement. Being a follower of Jesus is about multiplying yourself in obedience to Jesus' command to "go and make disciples of all nations." If you're a Christian than you are a steward of the Good News (or Gospel) of Jesus Christ and we are called to share our faith with others.
At Faith, we challenge each member of our church family to have at least one person that they are invested in towards that person knowing and receiving the hope that only Jesus can bring.
