The 3 Big Questions of Life and Death Matters

1.Where do we come from?

(Were we created, or did we evolve?)

The Bible says, “In the beginning … God created man in his own image … male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:1; 27)

Our loving Creator specially created Adam, Even, and all people in His image. We are all accountable to God and totally dependent on Him for our existence and purpose.

2.WHAT’S THE MEANING OF LIFE?

(Who or what are we truly living for?)

The Bible says, “do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

The true meaning of life is to glorify God. However as sinners by birth and choice, all people have knowingly rejected God and separated themselves from the joy, peace, and purpose found only in a relationship with Him.

3.What happens after we die?

(Does my life affect my forever?)

The Bible says, “it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgement …” (Hebrews 9:27)

After death, we will all be judged by God for every thought, word, and deed by His perfect righteousness. Your life and death matters! Have you heard God’s gospel of peace?

The Gospel (Good news)

Will you be with God in Heaven? The Bible says that the price of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. So how many times have you sinned? How many times have you lied, lusted, stolen, hated, used God’s Name in vain? Because every time you have, you’ve sinned against Holy God, separating yourself from Him - even your thinking is against Him! You will face the second death, which is eternity in Hell!

But Jesus Christ paid for sins, taken them and God’s wrath against sinners, upon Himself. He shed His blood and died on the Cross in place of sinners, and then He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death – just as the Scriptures said He would! To be reconciled to God, you must repent and trust that Jesus died for your sins. Your sins will be forgiven, and God will grant you eternal life, and you will spend forever with God in Heaven! Isn’t that Good News?

Who is God?

God is our loving and eternal Creator who has always existed and is fully independent, lacking nothing in Himself. God is so holy and pure that nothing imperfect can enter His presence. He is just, always doing what is right, as He Himself is the final standard for truth. Thankfully, God is also gracious and merciful. (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 7:11-12; John 14:6; Acts 17:24-25)

Who Is Man?

Humans are created beings, made in the image and likeness of God, and therefore unique among all other creatures. We are dependent upon God for our existence and purpose. We are created to worship and enjoy Him forever. Although created in His image, all mankind has rebelled against God, refusing to acknowledge and honour Him as He deserves. (Genesis 1:26-27; Acts 17:26-28; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 3:10-12; Romans 5:12)

WHAT IS OUR DILEMMA?

We are all guilty of what the Bible calls sin, which is breaking God’s law. Because we are sinners by birth and choice, we have violated the Law and stand condemned for our disobedience. God cannot and will not leave sin unpunished. The consequence of our sin is eternity in hell. (Psalm 51:5; Ecclesiastes 12:14; Romans 3:23; James 2:10; Revelation 20:11-15)

WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?

Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, came into the world as a man to live a life perfectly obedient to all the commands of God the Father. Jesus died the death required for the payment of sin and on the cross, Jesus took the punishment we deserve to set sinners free.

On the third day after His crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death, and earning eternal life for those who trust Him. (Romans 3:23-26; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND?

The only way to respond to the gospel is with repentance and faith.

Repentance is a heartfelt sorrow for sin, a renouncing of it, and a sincere commitment to turn away from it and walk in obedience to Christ. (Isaiah 55:6-7; Romans 7:24; 2 Corinthians 7:9-10)

Faith unto salvation is trusting in Jesus Christ as a living person for forgiveness of sins and for eternal life with God. (John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

It’s only when we turn from sin (repent) and turn to Christ (faith) that we are saved. (Acts 3:19)

The Gospel (Good news)

The gospel is good news! God is our loving and eternal Creator who has looked upon mankind and has seen our rebellion against Him. We are all guilty of what the Bible calls sin. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to live and die the death required for the punishment of sin in our place. Therefore everyone who repents from their sin and puts their faith in Jesus alone as Saviour and Lord will be forgiven and will have a restored relationship with God now and forever, for His glory.
