WEEK 1: WHAT IS ROOTED?

Week One begins creating the trust, belonging and shared expectations that will shape the entire Rooted experience. Welcome people well, lead with honest vulnerability and help participants understand that Rooted is not simply a course to complete, but an invitation to practise following Jesus together.

WEEK 2: WHO IS GOD?

Week Two helps establish the culture of the group as participants begin replacing false or incomplete ideas about God with the truth of Scripture. Create space for honest questions, encourage new spiritual rhythms and help each person grow in knowing, trusting and enjoying God.

WEEK 3: HOW DOES GOD SPEAK TO US?

Week Three creates intentional space for participants to slow down, listen and engage with God through prayer, Scripture, fasting and communion. Prepare carefully, guide without pressure and trust God to meet each person as the Prayer Experience begins shaping prayer into an ongoing way of life.

WEEK 4: WHERE IS GOD IN THE MIDST OF SUFFERING?

Week Four invites leaders to create a compassionate, biblical space where participants can speak honestly about suffering without being rushed toward easy answers. Help people bring their pain to God, encounter the hope and presence of Christ and discover that lament can be an expression of genuine trust.

WEEK 5: THERE IS AN ENEMY

Week Five creates a safe, biblical space for participants to name strongholds, receive prayer and bring hidden struggles into the light of Christ. Keep the focus not on the power of the enemy, but on the grace, truth and victory of Jesus, who leads people toward genuine freedom.

WEEK 6-7: HOW CAN I MAKE THE MOST OF MY LIFE

Weeks Six and Seven turn Rooted outward, helping participants see that freedom in Christ leads to a life of serving others. Through the Serve Experience and spiritual-gifts discussion, encourage each person to recognize how God has equipped them and take one practical step toward carrying the love of Jesus into the church and community.

WEEK 8: HOW DOES GOD VIEW MONEY?

Week Eight invites participants to see money not as something they own, but as something God has entrusted them to manage. Through honest, pressure-free conversation, help each person recognize what money reveals about the heart and take their next faithful step toward trust, obedience and generosity.

WEEK 9: HOW AND WHY SHOULD I TELL OTHERS?

Week Nine helps participants recognize that sharing their faith is simply telling others, with honesty and love, what Jesus has done in their lives. As they practise telling their stories and prepare for Rooted’s final week, encourage them to trust God with the outcome and take one faithful step toward making his grace known.

WEEK 10: WHY IS THE CHURCH IMPORTANT?

Week Ten is not the finish line but the beginning of a life shaped by the rhythms, relationships and obedience practised throughout Rooted. Celebrate what God has done, affirm each participant’s growth and help everyone leave with a clear next step into ongoing discipleship and biblical community.

BONUS: HELPING A ROOTED GROUP BECOME A LIFE GROUP

Helping a Rooted group become a Life Group begins long before week ten by prayerfully identifying people who demonstrate spiritual maturity, care for others and a willingness to lead. A healthy transition invites potential leaders without pressure, gives them small opportunities to grow and helps every participant take a clear next step into ongoing biblical community.
